Detailed 10 Days Tanzania Safari

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to hotel

On arrival, the guests shall be met at the Airport by our guides and shall be and transported to the hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay. They will always receive a briefing about the trip. The guests shall have an opportunity to exchange their money.

Overnight stay in Ilboru Lodge

Day 2 of 10 days Tanzania Safari: Transfer to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will be driven to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Famous for its large elephant population, it is also home to zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, waterbuck, baboons, & impala. Predators include lion, cheetah & leopard.

The swamps are shared by flocks of birds; green wood hoopoes, lovebirds, tallish herons, white bellied go-away birds & giant kingfishers. On drier ground you will find the kori bustard & the heaviest of the flying birds; the ostrich. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Natron

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Natron, situated at the base of Africa’s only active volcano, Oldoinyo Lengai, which is known as the Mountain of God to the local Maasai people.

You will be accompanied by a local Maasai Guide for a walk up to the Engero Sero Waterfalls. Winding up through the shady gorge you will reach a beautiful natural swimming pool surrounded by steep rock walls showered by cascading spring water where you will have the opportunity to swim. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay after.

Day 4 of 10 days Tanzania Safari: Full Day at Lake Natron

After breakfast you will walk out across the baked mud to the shores of the great Soda Lake. From there, you will spot Oldoinyo Lengai standing tall amongst the rolling hills & flat plains. Its ash-grey colour will remind you that this is still an active volcano.

Lake Natron is one of the most alkaline lakes in the world. Home to millions of tiny crustaceans, the lake is a haven for literally thousands of flamingos & it is one of the most important flamingo breeding grounds on earth. It is the landscape rather than the animals that is the attraction here & the area around the lake is dry, desolate & hauntingly beautiful.

After lunch, you will travel back to Karatu where you will spend the night.

Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Serengeti National Park which is one of Africa’s premier game parks. Driving through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward the Serengeti National Park, you will experience the vastness of this territory and marvel at the multitude of animal and bird life while cruising through this acacia spotted savannah.

You will visit a Maasai Village in the Ngorongoro Highlands (optional) where you will meet the Elders, Warriors, women and children and learn about the culture, beliefs and traditions of Tanzania’s last nomadic tribe. On arrival, you will have lunch and after enjoy a game drive in the park. You will be taken to the lodge after for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 of 10 days Tanzania Safari: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

You will wake up early morning and will embark game drives in North Serengeti. The great migration is supposed to be in this area from late July to mid-October crossing the famous Mara River to Masai Mara reserve in Kenya and back to Serengeti.

You will have high opportunity to see them crossing while the crocodiles in the river attack them. The North Serengeti has also lots of big cats, elephants, giraffes, impalas, hippos and it is another good place to see the endangered black rhino. You will return to the lodge after for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

On arrival, you will either visit a Masai Village in the Ngorongoro Highlands where you will meet the Elders, Warriors, women & children & learn about the culture, beliefs & traditions of Tanzania’s last nomadic tribe or embark on game drives in the park.

You will have lunch and, in the afternoon, you will continue with game drives in the park where you will spot the endangered black rhino, wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, eland, Grant’s & Thomson’s gazelle & giant tusked elephants plus lions & leopards, cheetahs as well as scavengers such as spotted hyenas, jackals & wild dogs. In the evening, you will be taken to the lodge.

Overnight stay at Eileen’s Trees Inn

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Eyasi

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Eyasi. On arrival you will embark on the cultural tour of the Hadzabe Bush People and Datoga Tribe. You will join them as they go about their daily activities such as hunting and gathering. You will visit the area where they collect fruits and roots and find water during the dry season as well as visit the caves, they call home.

In the afternoon you will return to your lodge where the remainder of the day is at leisure – swim in the pool which offers a refreshing respite from the dusty conditions, enjoy a cool drink at the bar or relax on your private balcony overlooking the lake.

Overnight stay at Marera Valley Lodge

Day 9 of 10 days Tanzania Safari: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive. Stretching along the base of the Rift Valley escarpment, it is home to giant fig trees, acacia woodlands, mahogany trees & grassy flood plains.

You will embark on a game drive and will spot buffalos, wildebeest, giraffes, mongoose, dik dik & zebra herds congregate on the grassy plains while the acacia woodland is home to the legendary tree-climbing lions & tusked elephants. Lake Manyara is also a home to more than 400 species.

In the late afternoon you will return to Arusha for your final evening.

Day 10: Transfer to the Airport and Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Airport for departure.
